I maintain the Elemeno P fan community
e_l_e_m_e_n_o_p (I didn't name it, so not my fault it's hard to type).
I am studying music at university.
I love Kiwi music, especially Elemeno P, Midnight Youth, Gin Wigmore, Kingston, Autozamm, Opensouls.
Also I like a bunch of different music: "Classic" rock or whatever (Beatles, Stones, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, The Who, Bob Dylan, The Band, Eric Clapton, Allman Brothers), current rock (Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Thirsty Merc), jazz (Dr. John, Thelonious Monk, Jackie Terrasson, Diana Krall, Bill Evans), and Chuck Leavell, who doesn't really fit into any of those categories.
Obligatory "My Favourite" section
Book: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Movie: Catch-22
TV shows: Whose Line, Top Gear.
I love classic comedy, particularly Brit comedy.
I can play Minesweeper without the little red flags. This makes me nerdly proud.
I post infrequently at best.
Some of my favourite quotations
(most of what you need to know about me can be found here)
"I just know quite a lot about certain things... and sod all about everything else."
--Bill Nighy in The Girl in the Cafe, written by Richard Curtis
Growing old is compulsory; growing up is optional.
--Billy Connolly
The day I stop learning is the day it all goes wrong and I start twitching my middle-class curtains, glaring at strangers and shopping for lawn mowers.
-- Stephen Fry
To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.
-- e e cummings
There is much pleasure to be gained from useless knowledge.
-- Bertrand Russell
There is no mistaking a real book when one meets it. It is like falling in love.
-- Christopher Morley
If you haven't found something strange during the day, it hasn't been much of a day.
-- John A. Wheeler
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.
-- Robin Williams
One thing life has taught me: if you are interested, you never have to look for new interests. They come to you. When you are genuinely interested in one thing, it will always lead to something else.
-- Eleanor Roosevelt
I'm lazy. I have an idea and I think, that'll be a good idea, and then I go and have a cup of tea.
-- John Clarke (Fred Dagg)

The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - that you'd thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you've never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it's as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.
-- Hector in The History Boys
Man, that's what being best friends is all about. You don't NEED reality anymore!

somniac_kiss, here.
There are only two types of music anyway: good, and the other kind.
-- Duke Ellington, or possibly Count Basie, but I bet Duke said it first.
We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.
With wonderful deathless ditties
We build up the world's great cities,
And out of a fabulous story
We fashion an empire's glory:
One man with a dream, at pleasure,
Shall go forth and conquer a crown;
And three with a new song's measure
Can trample an empire down.
We, in the ages lying
In the buried past of the earth,
Built Nineveh with our sighing,
And Babel itself with our mirth;
And o'erthrew them with prophesying
To the old of the new world's worth;
For each age is a dream that is dying,
Or one that is coming to birth.
Ode - Arthur O'Shaughnessy
